Venn Diagram Template

Compare and contrast two or three concepts with overlapping circles. Ideal for showing shared traits, unique attributes, and intersections between any set of ideas.

Use this template

What you get

  • Three semi-transparent overlapping circles with distinct colors
  • Seven labeled regions — unique zones and all pairwise and triple intersections
  • People / Process / Technology framework — adapt for any comparison

What this template is for

A Venn diagram uses overlapping circles to show the relationships between two or more sets of ideas, objects, or groups. Each circle represents one concept, and the overlapping region reveals what they have in common. This free template gives you a three-circle Venn diagram built around the People, Process, and Technology framework — one of the most widely used models in business transformation, IT strategy, and organizational design. Swap the labels and items to fit any comparison you need to make, from comparing product features to analyzing audience overlap to breaking down a strategic decision.

When to use this template

  • Compare two competing products side by side to find shared and unique selling points.
  • Run a team workshop to map the overlap between skills, tools, and workflows before a reorganization.
  • Show students the relationships between historical periods, scientific concepts, or literary themes.
  • Identify where marketing, sales, and product teams share goals and where they diverge.
  • Analyze customer segment overlap to prioritize which audience to target first.
  • Visualize the intersection of business requirements, technical constraints, and user needs.

How to use it

  1. 1Choose your three concepts — any three groups, categories, or ideas you want to compare.
  2. 2Label each circle with one concept. Place exclusive attributes inside each circle's outer zone.
  3. 3Fill the pairwise overlap regions (A∩B, A∩C, B∩C) with traits shared by exactly those two concepts.
  4. 4Fill the center region (A∩B∩C) with attributes shared by all three concepts.
  5. 5Review each region: if a zone is empty, that's a finding — it means the two concepts share nothing meaningful.
